I heard a rumor that ASDA have bought or intend to buy Sommerfield's in Wick. Has anyone else heard this and know if it is true or not?

Why don't these huge companies just buy the whole of caithness and be done with it?! :( it's ridiculous! we've survived for this long with no such commercialism, now it's going crazy!

I know Tesco, ASDA etc have their benefits too, but do we really need to have as many stores as are rumoured to be coming?

Are the CO-OP, Sommerfields/Safeway, Boots and Woolworths not large commercial companies?

Think of Caithness without them!

I was on the bus last monday when i heard the inspector bus man say to the driver " is tesco also taking over somerfield wick"? well the driver said " thats what the sign says at somerfield and its going to be like a metro style tesco". I hope that they have got it wrong!! why on earth would we need two tesos in such a small town so i sure hope they got it wrong!!!
