bogwood for fishtank

Has anyone tried using the bogwood out of the local peat bogs in their fish tanks. Do you thnk it would be safe? I'm hoping to cover a piece in java moss and put it in my new topical tank.

I used bogwood in my tank, all i did was power washed it and soaked it in water until all the tannings came out, that took about 2/3 weeks changeing the water every couple of days and once the water go's clear it's ready to go in your tank, i hope this is of help to you :D
