A Cattle Egret is present at Scrabster. A first for the county I believe.

This bird is a bigger rarity than I first thought, I have been told from one source it could only be the fifth ever scottish record.

Wow, Kas encellent pics. Especially with the bird between two cows ! A true Cattle Egret.

I was delighted to see this rarity today and even more so when you phoned to say it is even rarer than first anticipated.

thanks for the update kas, I managed to spot your find at the start of the week but did not get close enough to try and get a photo. I went out again mid-week and could not find it so thought it had moved on, I'll take a run out again over the weekend and see if I can find it again.
