.. Was the day the Luftwaffe made its fiercest attack of the Battle of Britian. It failed and ultimately led to the planned invasion of Britian, Operation Sealion, being cancelled.

Havent seen a anything of this in the media today, but as a veteran of the Battle lives near me I think it was worthy of bringing to peoples attention. He is a remarkable man and I feel that both he and his colleagues deserve a mention. Here is a link .. http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/roll.html (http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/roll.html) .. to the Battle of Britian roll of honour which lists the Pilots of all countries who flew, fought and died for the freedom we enjoy today. Some would have undoubtedly served at Wick for it was a fighter base for a time during the war.

I would ask that you give them a moment of your time, the fallen gave all of theirs.

On a lighter note the gentleman who served as a Hurricane pilot said today that the Churchill quote of .. "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few" .. was considered by many of the pilots to be a reference to the back pay they were owed.

Those brave souls, to read that roll of honour was very humbling...

For our tomorrows they have given their todays'.
