View Full Version : Is Castletown Shop A Disgrace?

Just went to the shop to get the papers and some nize fizzy juice as a treat.
I walked in,taking notice of all the silver from the alcohol fridges being blocked off (roughly half the shop), grabbed the papers and had a look for some coke or pepsi. Couldn't find a thing. There was nothing except some litre bottles of orangeade, which no one in the family really likes.

I find it a disgrace that this shop is so devoted to alcohol and is missing essentials and other luxuries.

You can't help but wonder though; with all the alcohol sales that this shop seems to get (or you would at least think with the range of items on display) what do the customers use as mixers?

I think you are saying more about Castletown residents than the shop.........................

All the coke and lemonade has probably been bought for mixers, thats maybe why you couldn't get any ;)

Thanks everyone for being so nice to the Castletown residents. Obviously because our local shop stocks a lot of alcohol we are automatically branded drunks. :(

Not everyone is like that. Very few actually. Can't you tell by the fact that i'm complaining about it that its a disgrace?

Even so apparently its most McColl's shops that are like this. Not just our one.

McColls in Inverness is exactly the same!Loads of drink and a few papers and mags a few necessities and all at large prices  Gone are the days of the local corner shop that stocked just about anything you would need. When that shop in castletown opened as mace it was quite good but now it is disappointing.Staff are fine, stock is not!And NO I don't think half of castletown are alchohol dependent and IMO it is sad that people assume that just because it has such a large stock.I spoke to a staff memeber not long ago and they said all the stock is ordered and sent from down south and they have no control over what is and isn't taken in x

Actually Ash if you read mr-me's posts he didn't say that he just said "something about the residents perhaps?" which I personally took as "tongue in cheek" after Mereng's post.Nobody has the right to assume anything about anybody without having a fact based knowledge of the people involved.mr-me simply stated that the shop has got a lot of alchohol in it and very little else, which I agree with...neither he nor I said anything about the eople of castletown having a drink problem. On the subject of porn well its horses for courses and if people want to buy the stuff thats up to them as long as it isn't in my face I don't have a problem with it and to be honest I have never noticed it in the shops but maybe thats just because i never look at the top shelf :confused x

Thanks for the defense Thumper and don't worry Ash, I accept your apology. As Thumper said it was tongue in cheek.
