Top fishing skippers (the like of David Smith, Gardner, Buchan, Bremner, Manson ..) take calculated risks because they've thought it out and calculated beforehand. And their crews stick with them.


Alex Salmond had no certainty of winning the Holyrood Election. We did though! My impression was that the SNP held many competent administrators (for sure we need these in today's Scotland) but have we a leader?

It's a Pyrrhic victory though, don't you think? 50% turnout of the electorate; one third voted SNP, two-thirds other parties opposed to independence. More votes than were cast for the Greens, the Scottish Socialists and Solidarity were trashed by the "voting machines". So the SNP are in the most marginal of minority governments and forced to rely on not upsetting anyone to survive as an administration.

What a relief to know that we're now ruled by government modelled on Italian practice. :lol:

How sad for them, and how fortunate for you, you're not there to dispense wisdom on the subject. I'm sure they'd appreciate your penetrating insights, coming, as they do, from somewhere a very safe distance from the front line.........
