No, not our government, for once, but they all share similar levels of stupidity. That much is evident.

I thought this might have been a joke (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20227400/site/newsweek/), but perhaps not........

It's no joke. The Panchen Llama was snatched as a child by the Chinese and was subjected to torture in an attempt to stamp out Buddhism. It is not known if the "Panchen Llama" the Chinese Government is the person who they snatched or if he was killed and a replaced by a substitute.
The Dali Llama is well aware of what will happen to the child chosen as his successor when he dies.

As far as the choice of Roman Catholic Bishops, the Chinese Government is of the opinion that it is they who should make the choice of Bishops and that the Church should have no say in the matter.

Both the next Dali Llama and the Bishops would have to be Card Carrying Members of the Party of course. There can bo only one "God" in a Totalitarian State and all must be made to "Worship the Leader" or suffer the consequences.
