dead seals on reiss beach

noticed the last two nights when walking the mutt thre were at least two dead seals on the beach , one looked as if it had a hole in its head where it had been shot , the other one had no obvious signs of being shot and seemed to be a young pup ,

That Are Allowed To Shoot Seals. Must Have Heard Of This Years Ago. If So Thats Still Sad. But I Am Likely Wrong.

I sent a pm to Elamanya on behalf of the Caithness Marine Mammal Medics.
He phoned Colin back with the location and i've checked the seals and taken pics for analysis.
The two seals are small common seals probably born in June.
One of the seals does have a hole in the side of it's head but this is where it's ear was and this has been enlarged by gulls also the eyes have been taken.
Apart from looking quite thin there appears to be no other injuries that could have caused their deaths.
If any more dead Seals are seen can these sightings be report to myself by PM or phone Colin 07762969022 or passed by e-mailed to paula@bdmlr.org.uk
