Anyone else had one of these? - I was named ----.Not a 'Nigerian scam'..

Hi ----
Sorry to bother you but I wondered if you could help me with a challenge.
I set up a site to help me save for a campervan and things are going really
slow so I said to my partner that the only way I was going to manage to save
for one is by begging. She said that people don't give without a reason.
This started a whole debate about there being no good left in the world to
which I completely and utterly disagreed. To cut a long story short, a
challenge was formed to prove which one of us was right .
Here were the simple rules we drew up
1. I can ask anyone to donate from a stranger to a friend but I must ask or
write to each friend or stranger personally
2. I can include a "recommend a friend" type button on the site where those
who donate get to tell a friend (which is the most important part of the
plan otherwise I could be writing many thousands of emails!)
3. I can only offer the strangers and friends things that have no intrinsic
value ( which has resulted in an Emailed Certificate to say you helped and a
personal message on the site to which the donor can advertise or type any
message they wish, to show they have taken part,) The whole point of the
initial debate was because she said that there was no good left in the
world!
4. I am allowed to leave the current donations in place including the ones I
have donated myself (there was no rule set for me donating more myself due
to me an my partner knowing that I don't actually have any money at the
moment!)

Well that's it!, If there is any chance of you donating a pound and even
more important telling lots of friends about the site that would be
fantastic catalina
The site can be found at http://www.buymeacamper.com (http://www.buymeacamper.com) and if there is
anything you need to know then I will attempt to respond to every mail
(though it may take some time!)

Thanks so much for your time ------

Yours Faithfully

Ian Walker

He has got a cheek but I suppose it is worth a try. If it works there will be a lot of jumping on the bandwagon. I'd like to buy a wee car......

Unfortunately, Ash, there are many people out there who are easily parted from their money. That is how these scammers are so successful. The process of scamming wouldn't last long if it wasn't hugely profitable. ;)

Heehee!
I might start a website & call it:
www.Buymeahousewith6acres4bedsallensuiteloungebrea kfastkitchenconservatoryjacuzzibathandswimmingpool .co.uk (http://www.Buymeahousewith6acres4bedsallen-suiteloungebreakfastkitchenconservatoryjacuzzibath andswimmingpool.co.uk)
(Don't click this link!)
How long before I have enough do you reckon? [lol]

Hey, good luck to him - If you don't ask, you don't get!
Mind you, I ask, but I still don't get!

can't be much of a sparky if he needs to beg for money to buy himself a van!

Also not much of a web site designer either.

Now if it was someone that really appeared to need the money I might consider donating.

But a self-employed electrician...

I suppose it is like beggars on the street; if they didn't get anything they wouldn't do it. The choice is ours.
And yes, I know, some beggars are professionals who don their "working clothes" and go out to do a days work/begging. As I said, the choice is ours.

I seem to remember reading about something similar to this website for people wanting cosmetic surgery. You can go on their sites and donate money towards their breast enlargement, tummytuck, nosejob etc, would try it myself but would need to call it buy me a newbody and just stick my face back on it.com lol! Then again I would also want the face improved before replacing it on the new body that all those nice strangers have paid for me to get [smirk] x

How amazing. Amazing that people would set up a site like that. And even more amazing that people would donate to it.
Good luck to him I suppose. But it's a bit cheeky!!!:confused
