Well since Gordon Browns Big U-Turn on the Super casiono for Manchester.Bringing...£200m investment and 2,700 jobs to east Manchester, which has some of the country's most deprived communities.

Just wondering what you all think of Casionos...?

Ive never been to one but the OH has..He has won quite alot of Money...But just how much did he spend to get it back? Was it at a profit or a loss..Ill never know.

Who has all been to a casino?

When I lived in Leeds I used to go into the casino 5 nights a week, think the fact that I worked there had something to do with it:lol:

I hope that Brown does reverse the decision on this. I have been to casinos as a punter and I have had suspicions about the determination by elements of the government to drive this through. I suspect that some sleazy behind the scenes passing-of-fat-brown-envelopes might be involved.

Do we wnat to add yet another social problem with these places driving already vulnerable people even deeper into debt....

May as well make all illegal drugs legal while they are at it....

Not a gambler, so Super Casino in Manchester or non Super Casino will not have me jumping for joy. I have never been in a bingo hall either, Edinburgh has a few Casinos, been in about twice as part of a group, loved the free coffee and sandwiches. Been to a dog track about twice again part of a group.
I would not know how to write a bet on a horse.
So neither up nor down with Gordon's decision

I remember the predictions of "The End of Civilisation as We Know It!" and the warnings of Britain descending into the depth of moral degradation on previous occasions.

The horrific thought of all those poor wee wifies being led astray in those dreadful dens of iniquity which will lead to their destruction means they should be prevented at all costs! Bingo anyone?

Then there was the hysteria over “Off-course Betting”, Betting Shops to you lot. The thought of people not actually having to go to a Race Course to place a bet was dreadful beyond belief and had to be prevented to save people from their own destruction. More “End of Civilization” nonsense.

Then came the ultimate nonsense. How do you decide who should be given licenses to run Betting Shops? Well, like licenses to sell alcohol they are granted by the courts.
People would apply for a Licence to run Betting Shops and when asked for some proof that they had “Experience” of such things they would produce a long list of Previous Convictions” for their activities in running illegal Bookies Businesses involving having Bookies Runners hanging around street corners taking illegal bets for them in the past.

The very people who had previously been convicting them for committing illegal activities had to accept those convictions as proof that they should issue a Licence to do the same thing legally.

Super Casinos? The End of Civilisation as We Know It! They should be prevented at all costs! The very thought of them is dreadful beyond belief and had to be prevented to save people from their own destruction.
All I can say is here we go again, same old song, slightly different tune! They never give up do they? “HOUSE!” Oops, sorry, it's my addiction you see! [lol]

I have been into a casino and I didn't like it. I was glitzy on the outside as if something special. Inside it was just a dingy gambling house. And a total rip off. My Dad gambled away two houses to I am a tad biased against gambling in any form.

It's my suspicion that MPs were acting in dubious ways to get these through that I object to, more than the spiral of debt a gambler might get into.

Ex MPs benefiting from the misery of people oop north who once might have voted Labour.

Nice.......

I have no feelings either way on the subject, but I think something is wrong with either the way it has been pushed through or the reversal of the decision. As someone has already said, perhaps too many fat brown envelopes have changed hands, but at which decision, for or against. Perhaps both.
