The day they brought old Viewfirth down,
Made me sad, caused me to frown,
The Thurso sky was grey in mourning,
Farewell old friend, such sweet sojourning!

Your Victorian beauty gone forever,
Architect's design, builder's endeavour,
You stood so proudly atop the hill,
A tear or two my eyes do fill!

Folk music once lilted in your barn,
And in the lounge bar many a shared yarn,
Games in the sports bar of snooker and darts,
Played by members from various parts.

No more dancing within your hall,
No more Punch shouting out his last call,
"Homes to go to, friends," is what he'd say,
In his own inimitable way.

Your rooms that once were filled with laughter,
In memory I'll hold dear forever after,
An elegant building from times gone by,
No longer silhouettes the Thurso sky!

Lovely. Memories of finer times and absent friends...
