Apparently this poster is in use on the commuter train from Baltimore to Washington, DC.

I wonder if the irony is intentional? Accidental? Or does it say something more sinister about those who would make America "secure"? George Orwell must be laughing.......

it is pretty funny, i think the passengers having their fists close to their chests makes it look even more dubious. I think this is all down to the Artist, he probably got a lot of money for the commission but still didn't like the principle so he thought he would mess with them a little. Turn up with the artwork on deadline and the company haven't got time to think about it and get it to print. So i think this is a good sense of humor on the artists side ;)

Actually I like it too, not the theme but the actual painting, like that style!

You could, if you want a laugh, write to them and ask them why that poster, just to see what they say, I won't do it myself incase I get put on a CIA list somewhere :D

here is their general question form for MARC Transit http://www.mtamaryland.com/resources/contactmta/contactform.cfm

I think this is a few years old now. It was apparently regarded as a hoax by many. Luckily, my good friends, The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, have the "Gen" in this link:-

Interesting story. I like the way they wouldn't elaborate on the design process of the posters. Its just another example of people with too much time on their hands sitting round a boardroom table and not paying attention and throwing away the companies money ;)

Thanks, Scorrie; I came across it yesterday, presented as "fresh" news; I suppose it just goes to show that there's no new news really.

The style is very Soviet though. And Nazi too, though Soviet was the first impression I had. Perhaps the style doesn't have the impact in the US as it does in Yurp.

My Dad was a railman. I'm a Locomotive Brither through and through.

By the way Crayola, I've got you hook, line and sinker. You are obsessively following me around in a childish attempt to undermine me at every turn. This is amusing me greatly. I have much better things to do with my life. Sad to see some with so little positive to do in life. :o)
