Can anyone help me with current information on Ackergill Tower? I would particularly like to contact the owner on a family matter.
Thank you.

Ackergill Tower was recently sold to a wealthy American who may not live here (that is unknown). Planning permission was granted to change it from a hotel to private residence. Whether she can help you or not is something we do not know. Her name is Betsee Parker and there are many references to her online.

Thank you Bill. I have seen the articles in the local press but contacting her is difficult.

I believe there is a Manager employed and living on site. Perhaps a letter addressed to the tower would suffice.

It’s sad that Ackergill Tower has closed just when there’s a push to increase accommodation provision for visitors to the county. Since the Premier Inn in Thurso will likely cater mainly for a different sector of the market, this will leave a gap at the top end, which is unfortunate timing due to the current popularity of the NC500 amongst well-heeled travellers.

The new Granary Lodge B&B at the Castle of Mey will help cater for the more discerning traveller.
