I've only just heard the sad news of Jim Cronins passing in March! :(
How sad, he was such a great protector of primates, I hope his legacy carries on at Monkeyworld.
I'm shocked that his death didn't get a lot of publicity at the time especially given the amount that Steve Irwins death recieved.

Sorry if there was already a thread on this at the time, I never saw it.

It is indeed sad. I think it didn't get much publicity as compared to Steve Irwin Jim may be "relatively" unknown to the masses whereas Steve became a bit of a superstar as he is so outgoing. I only know of Jim as my mum records the programs and we see them when we visit. He seemed so fit and full of life. The Monkeyworld website says that his wife will continue the work: http://www.monkeyworld.org/ and also that a new series is in production.

Monkeyworld is actually shown worldwide and he's very famous in his home country America (where he died). He was appointed MBE in the New Years honours but sadly he died before he could pick the medal up. :(

Steve Irwin did indeed have a larger than life personality, it's such a shame that th eanimal kingdom has lost two of its best.

Thanks for this thread Porshie, I never knew either. :( I often pop the show on for the kids at breakfast time, as the monekys are a tad more interesting than the usual kiddie drivel! He did some great work alongside his wife.

That is really sad news Porshiepoo.

He has done such a great work but, like Steve Irwin, I am sure his work will carry on.

Let us not forget the terrible images of the Chipperfield Circus Monkeys rescued by the Cronins in a dreadful state. Jim's death was bad news for abused and neglected primates everywhere. Very sad news with very little coverage.
