Got the car serviced and the oil £36 for 4litres and the small car battery was £84.00 plus vat , some things were double or treble what they were a couple of years back . A barrel of oil prices where rock bottom but the car oil is three times dearer, are we just being ripped off or is it just a can of more money for less product .

The average price of a barrel of Brent crude over the past 10 years is $79.28
The cost today of a barrel of Brent is $77.52 so not so far off the 10 year average.
Obviously you are not couping Brent crude in your engine, a lot more costs are associated with refining the crude to the oils you use as s final product, these processes don’t happen for free.
I would imagine you have bought fully synthetic out at £36 for 4l, if your oil was previously a third of the price 2 years back it must have been a bargain make mineral oil.

Socialist policies. You'll have heard of the TUC's proposal to go to a 4 day working week, but still paid for 5? Where do you think the money comes from to pay for mechanics or motor factor employees to get get 5 days of pay from 4 days work? Yes, thats right, by increasing the sales costs.

With hare brained schemes like what the TUC are presently proposing, standby for things to get a lot more expensive, coupled with services to get cut a lot more as well.

As they say, you get nowt for nowt.
