I'm looking for information about people from the Highlands & Islands who went off to Spain in the 1930's to fight for the Republic against Franco's fascists.

If you know anybody, such as a father or grandfather, who joined the International Brigade or POUM, or any related history, please contact me off-board at gobbledegook@ukonline.co.uk
or tel 01862 811233

Many thanks

This is Spike writing under the missus username.

Don`t actually know anyone, but just a thought. In my view not enough recognition is given to this most bloodiest of wars. WW II is generally accepted to be THE one as far as the fight against facism goes for historical writers, documentary makers etc. I understand the importance of this monumental event and the sacrifices made.
I would like to see more recognition given to the men (and women) who went overseas to fight for their beliefs and to combat world facism.
