Wick Ha'
by Souttar C
May be sung to Galway Bay.

You may sing of Murkle Bay or Wordies sheddie,
Or'witching beams that dim the dying day,
But no sweeter sight can stir the blood of Wickers
Than their Ha' that smells just like the new mown hay.

For the breeze that blows across the Ha' to Bridge Street
Is upsettin' to the Council at their play,
As they sit for hours a-letting Cruden houses,
And wondering - if they will ever pay.

But hark! a fairy voice is heard from Streatham,
( A clachan just a'yent the Cassymire)
A Highland heart is moved to high endeavour,
Whose Fiery cross will reroof every byre.

But the breeze that blows across the Ord frae Streatham,
Is strengthened as it passes o'er the Ha,
Yet Caithness men remembring - will chuckle,
For they know who caused their wee bit roofs tae fa

O' let us not see days of yore returning
When oor ain Ha' was but a bonnie thing,
Beside the great decay o'er Scotland spreading,
Of what some ??? Bard mon' choose tae sing.

But when immigrations started from the Westward,
And Atlantic liners call at Wick by Law,
'Tis Sir David you'll be thanking for these measures,
When Film Stars step ashore onto Wick Ha'
