Cheaper travel to Orkney (at last)

We love going over to Orkney, so this is good news.

That's good news, I may be tempted to visit Orkney on a future trip to Caithness. I checked on both Northlink and Pentland Ferries websites for current prices for a return trip for a car and driver only, the prices are as follows:

Travelling on 10 Nov 2017

Northlink £140
Pentland £108

The downside to a potential 30% cut on the fares is the possibility of visitors to Thurso not spending money in the town, instead saving it to spend in Orkney.
