This woman really wants to get a grip ...... but then again its what we have come to expect from the Sun reading nu Labour reps at Westminster
perhaps she could have spent her time better by going out and looking for her colleague Douglas Alexander MP the organiser of the Scottish election who seems to have "disappeared"

Hehehehe... good spot, Peter.

I'm no friend of PR because (IMHO) as a system it has the great disadvantage of always leaving you with a neutered government that can't get on with things - the Italians have been trying to get rid of it for years, it having been responsible for almost 60 changes of Government there since WW2. They want a "first past the post" system like Westminster.

But blaming Hitler on PR and then suggesting that Slippery Salmond is somehow the same is stretching things a bit  .

I thought it was the Versailles Treaty which bred Hitler, not the voting system.

I don't know what convoluted system they used for the parliamentary elections I seem to remember having to put a cross next to the name but the condorcet based systems like STV are much fairer and a lot more democratic than first past the post systems.

I don't disagree as a matter of principle, but it (FPTP) certainly is a good way of delivering a government with a majority, that can get things done - and that's the Italians' key frustration. STV tends to dilute absolute majorities, of course.

For the record, I'm referring to "majority" in the simplest sense of number of seats as opposed to number of votes cast.

sorry Rheggers i dont get your comment
but here we have a Nu Labour Mp obtusely comparing Alec Salmond with Hitler

now lets see a guy wins a disputed election for an underpowered?? parliament in what would be classed as a federal state within most of the countries in Europe and he is compared to a guy who orchestrated the deaths of 5-6 million Jewish people,, 2-3 million Soviet POWs 0.25 million Roma ..100,000 mentally ill people ,
10000 Gay people .. aprox 100000 Freemasons 5000 Jehovah witness outside off the sundry political opposition Boy Nu labour must be proud of this lady!!!
Ill bet Manny Shinwell must be turning summersaults in his grave (but then again Mannys socialist views would be an embarrasment to Tony Mandy Gordon et all )

All power to her elbow.....just shows what a panic Nulabour were and are in!

Can I also comment that the same electoral system gave us the Nulabour Joke last time..............but did any other party make the Hitler remark about him?

One thing about a minority government...........it will let us see who wants to work for Scotland and who wants to play silly sods.

The non-SNP members won't do themselves any favours if they oppose decent policies just because they can.

I've not enjoyed politics as much since "Yes, Minister" was an the TV. The only difference is that "Yes, Minister" was quite sensible by comparison.

All this system does is give the "never would have made it" minnows a chance to pretend they are swimming in the same pond as the Big Fish.
Talk about the tail trying to wag the dog!

But what is the difference between an SNP tail this time round and the Nulabour tail which has been wagging the dog with the help of the LibDems since the inception of the Scottish Parliament?

Heck, the SNP have to make a good fist of Government if they want to further the cause of independence.........so interesting times ahead.

who did the castrating?

The people who designed a voting system that tends not to deliver absolute majorities. Maybe there's a warning in there somewhere for politicians, but I doubt somehow they'll see it that way.
