........for a really nice lunch today, served in a welcoming and pleasant environment by friendly and helpful staff. Not what you find in many a Caithness pub, full of underage drinkers and swearing drunks. In my opinion Wetherspoons is a real asset to Wick - we have been to Wick much more often (we live a good distance away) since they opened and always spent a bit of cash here and there. We saw no drunks, but the place was heaving with all age groups, really nice atmosphere. Our two-course meal was not Cordon Bleu but very nice anyway, we had 2 drinks each and it only cost just over £20 - you can't say fairer than that.
Thank god the planning committee didn't listen to the pub owner wingers who pleaded loss of business before planning permission was granted! :D
