The planned demolition of the chapelcross Cooling Towers, by the controlled use of explosives, is planned to take place on the morning of Sunday 20th May 2007 at approx 09:00 am. The demolition going ahead at this time and date, is obviously still subject to a series of qualifying factors, including the good old Scottish weather conditions on the day.

The British Nuclear Group management team at Chapelcross are continuing to work closely with Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary and the Council’s Emergency Planning team to ensure the safety of the public is maintained during the event.

The demolition will be broadcast live via a dedicated website (www.chapelcrosscoolingtowers.com). If you are interested you will be able to view the event, as it happens, from the safety of your own home!
