Can anybody tell me how to unlock a mobile phone? I have one that came on the orange network, but I want to use it on the O2 network?

Thanks...

I don't think it is done very easily. You probably need a data cable to connect it to a PC and unlock codes. There are shops that will do it for a price, i'm not sure if there are any in Thurso/Wick.

I got an unlock number over the internet for my Orange phone for £2.99. Sent by e mail less than 12 hours after order. www.keep-talking.net
Orange wanted £20 and one week. Shop in Inverness will do it on the spot for £10.

Well my awnser is the same as the above post but i would just like to point out that you can buy mobiles that are sim free so u can put any type of sim card in and it will work for example www.ebuyer.com sells mobile phones like that and you also get a wider choice of phones which you dont get when you go for pay as you go phones

Most sim free phones cost alot more than the pay as you go. Also ebuyer charge an extra £15 on top of normal postage to deliver to the highlands. As they say we are off shore .

This website has an extremely long and complicated method to unlock your phone for free:

http://www.smartphone2000.com/unlock%20orange.htm

It may or may not work for your phone

When did they start that I have had loads of stuff from them and never paid anything like that for delivery.

As for unlocked phones I bought one from the carphone warehouse in inverness and it was £30 cheaper than the same on PAYT.

oh well they will lose me as a customer then, Last order I made had a standard charge it was in April this year, just checked my account

I am just outside Thurso. KW14 postcode

edit I just tried to buy something and went all the way to checkout before cancelling and no mention of any surcharge at any time, You are talking about www.ebuyer.com??

Well dont stop ordering yet i have just tried some other addresses in caithness and they did not get the surcharge .
Very strange indeed so i can get it sent to wick and get no surcharge but if they drive down the road in lybster i get charged £15.
Thats nice of them
