"I wouldn't have carried it out" accused told police

A THURSO man threatened to burn down his ex-girlfriend's house Wick Sheriff Court heard yesterday.
But Nathan Galloway, 22, told police that he didn't mean it and that the threat had been uttered "in a moment of madness".
Galloway admitted threatening and abusive behaviour between June 23 and December 1, last year, and a record.
The court was told that the accused arrived at Chelsea Macintosh's home, in Royal Terrace, Thurso, and they both sat down in the living room. However, Galloway's behaviour became unacceptable and he began threatening violence to her and damage to her house.
The accused was asked to leave, but only did so when Ms Macintosh indicated her intention to telephone the police.
At that point Galloway threw his mobile phone across the room and left the house.
Fiscal Fraser Matheson said that the police investigation revealed further historic conduct by Galloway indicating that the relationship had not been entirely a happy one.
The case was continued until January 6 when Sheriff Andrew Berry will consider a background report before sentencing Galloway, of 5 Henderson Court, Thurso.
