Scorries fly into Cup third round after scintillating display...
Despite second round tie marred by the shameful conduct of some visiting team players

WICK Academy finally found their home form on Saturday and where better, than in a crucial second-round Scottish Cup encounter.
The Scorries left it until the second half, though, to really turn it on, in a dramatic 45 minutes that saw them awarded three penalties and three Welfare players red carded.
Academy pierced their opponents' defence a few times in the first half but got no reward for their efforts and survived some anxious moments. Again careless passing could have cost them.
It was, however, Welfare who broke the deadlock, Scott McCulloch's drive creeping into the net after being palmed away by the Academy keeper, Michael MacCallum.
The second half was something of a revelation with goals and incidents galore and saw the red mist descend on the Midlothian outfit who were, partly, the architects of their own downfall, conceeding three penalties and losing three players to red cards.
It was Orcadian James Pickles who sparked Academy's comeback giving keeper Bryan Young no chance with a rocket in the eighth minute.
A couple of minutes later, Sam Mackay put his side ahead, with a penalty after Davie Allan was brought down in the box. Soon afterwards Mackay netted his second from the spot, after the luckless Allan was pulled down by the keeper.
Richard Macadie came off the bench to redirect a corner ball to put the final nail in Welfare's Cup exit but went on to scorn another penalty opportunity in the dying minutes.
Welfare can have no qualms about the result. Their bad-tempered, flagrant, fouling and its inevitable consequences, were arguably, the worst ever, lack of sportsmanship witnessed by a visiting team, at Harmsworth Park. Their disgraceful behaviour could well have financial as well as player sanctions.
Academy will know their third round opponents around teatime tomorrow night, with fingers crossed for another home encounter. While fans' focus will doubtless be on further Cup progress, it's to be hoped that their team's cup form can rub off on their league games.
