AMBULANCE chiefs are being urged to put Caithness towards the top of the list to benefit from new funding to train 300 new paramedics throughout Scotland. The call comes as the service in the far north comes under increasing pressure with reports of doctors being forced into taking patients to hospital in the back of their cars.
A 10-year-old Halkirk girl has raised nearly £200 by selling her toys to help a local group for people with dementia which her granny attends. Erin McIntosh has seen the benefit her granny, Isobel Cormack, gets from going to the Friday Group which is held weekly in Thurso's Dunbar Hospital.

John O 'Groats Brewery will, tomorrow Saturday, unveil its latest creation when it launches its new 4.3 per cent ale at the Seaview Hotel in the village.
