Seemingly it is being alleged, front page of todays Record,http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/transport-minister-derek-mackay-accused-6985131 that on Tuesday DereK Mckay said that the repair on the forth road bridge was not in the area where repair work was axed 5 years ago and today said that the scrapped 2010 checks would have replaced the truss that cracked ? And here was me thinking that it was all FETA's fault for cancelling the work, and nowt to do wi SNP government, so why is Mckay so obviously contradicting himself, is he now admitting the SNP knew of this and done nowt ?

Labour’s James Kelly said: “Clearly these statements are contradictory and this is a serious matter. It would appear that Mr Mackay has misled
Parliament.“On the one hand, the minister told Parliament that cancelled repair works weren’t linked to the bridge closure.“But then on the radio he admitted that cancelled repair works would have replaced the damaged section of the bridge as far back as 2010.“Derek Mackay’s performance throughout has been unconvincing, and this will only add to the concerns of those impacted by the closure.“We need full transparency from the SNP Government about what has happened here, which is why there should be a full Parliamentary inquiry into this matter.
“The thousands of people whose lives have been affected by the closure of the Forth road bridge deserve nothing less.”Tory MSP Murdo Fraser (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/conservative-party) said: “This is a complete U-turn from the minister and SNP Government and it’s
important that commuters and
businesses get accurate information as to how the closure was allowed to develop and when the problem will eventually be solved.“Currently we have a catastrophic situation for motorists – not to mention the economy and the thousands of people who rely on the bridge each day. The minister who currently holds the portfolio for transport should not mislead the public. We need solid answers now.”

This could of course all be bull, but If he is found to have been lying will he be prosecuted just like Carmicheal, or is he just another lying politician, no prizes that he wont ??? This is a bit heavier than telling a lie on sturgeons "political election outcome preferences" : If true RHA members should sue the government for extra fuel costs etc as should everyone else who has been inconvenietly affected and have a full Parliamentary inquiry ....thats only right and proper eh ?
