Smith Bank

New oil rig taken up position on the Smith Bank on the East coast.
I'm informed that it has permission to drill one explority well.
That means there are now four rigs visible from the Caithness Coast
The platform has been there for over a week but now it has been elevated on it's legs.

The other wind turbine is ready to be brought out for installation but thats not expected until June.
The wind turbine programme had a set back last year when one of the emloyees was seriously injured and an Health and Safety Executive inquiry prevented further work.

So that's why work on the second wind turbine suddenly came to a grinding halt.
I think the "official" explanation was simply that they ran out of time and the huge crane was contracted to be elsewhere.

If the Health and Safety Exec got themselves in on the act then I'm not surprised they ran out of time.
