Second-time drinks driver banned for three years by Wick sheriff

A THURSO man, who drove with excess alcohol, has been banned for three years and has had his car forfeit.
The drink-driving offence was Andrew Innes's second such conviction in 10 years, Wick Sheriff Court was told yesterday.
He pleaded guilty to the offence which occurred on the A836 Thurso-Castletown road near Murkle, on October 12 and will also be subject to supervision for six months. Tests revealed a breath-alcohol level of 33mgs - the legal limit is 22mgs.
Innes, 31, of 37 Ormlie Lodge Appartments in Castlegreen Road, Thurso, also admitted a separate charge of assaulting a police officer outside the accused's home on July 31.
He was said to have assaulted Constable Christopher Jenkins by pushing him, lashing out with his feet and attempting to punch him.
Sheriff Andrew Berry ordered Innes to carry out 130 hours of unpaid work in the community commenting that his behaviour towards a public servant "going about his business" was "a serious matter".
The car forfeited, following an application by fiscal David Barclay, was a Vauxhall Corsa said to be worth £600-£700 at purchase but since, probably less. due to some frontal damage.
