I have just managed to get to Sarclet, where I had discovered many of my family lived in the 19th century. It is an extraordinary place now, but I would love to see images of it as it was during the herring years so that I can better imagine the life of my gt-gt-gt-grandparents and others. I cannot find any on the Internet - can anyone help? Many thanks!

Hi, The Wick Heritage Society (website http://www.wickheritage.org/) may be able to help you if you contact them. They also have an associated website which has pictures for sale http://www.johnstoncollection.net/ unfortunately when I just looked at the website all the pictures on the site have not loaded - which may be an issue with my broadband account, or possibly the Johnston Collection site is not working properly. Anyway if you do a search for Sarclet they do have a number of old pictures available and if you contact them I am sure they will be able to help.

They also have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/The-Johnston-Collection-203820243000662/

What is the name as we have old crofting records and the old OS estate map that has the names of tenants and houses on it
