Is David Cameron, (in common with previous UK governments), right to continue to resist strong calls in Jamaica for the UK to pay financial reparation for the slave trade? Is he correct to insist instead that investment in the Carribean (£25m for a new jail, £300m on infrastructure projects, £30m for hospitals etc) is the way forward? What position should the SNP government take given that cities in Scotland also grew fat on the slave trade and this is part of the country's history?

Considering that Great Britain was first to ban the slave trade and ensure it was stamped out in westernised societies. Also given that all this happened nearly two centuries ago I think that Jamaica should concentrate on sorting its own economy out and social problems instead of trying to grind an old axe. This nation has more than given enough to Jamaica and other countries by the way of aid and continues to do so.

While we are on the subject of slaves, what about all the White Slaves!

The White Slaves of England and Americas (http://www.africaresource.com/rasta/sesostris-the-great-the-egyptian-hercules/white-slavery-re-slaves-of-scotland/).

The Forgotten Slaves (http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=44940).

Nobody ever talks about the white slaves.
