What is or was your favorite advert, i still cant pass the cadburys finger of fudge, and think of the song "A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat"
My favorite advert was the one of a photographer trying to get a picture of panda's at a zoo, and he stopped to have a kitkat, and the panda's behind his back was skating, LOL hubby used to shout on me "Oi YERE ADVERT IS ON" lol

For me it has to be any one with Prunella Scales, I think she's brilliant. I remember the one where she's phoning her son (Melvin ?) who's at work and she's checking that's he's got his jumper on, and eventually he shouts at her its a modern air-conditioned building and she insists that must be hungry if he's getting cross so she'll make him a sandwich, but 'I wish I'd known, I've hardly got anything in' where she open a giant fridge door and you couldn't squeeze a tin of sardines in. She's Tesco's Dotty all right! The one with the sullen fish was quite funny too.

I always thought that the Cadbury's Smash adverts with the laughing robots were the stupidest adverts as they didn't seem to relate to mashed potato.

for those that are (considerably) older than me the Ovaltineys radio adverts on Radio Luxemburg were magic.

You can still hear them and many more at http://www.sterlingtimes.co.uk/ovaltine.htm

I recommend the track 'we are the ovaltineys' (you need realplayer installed) but also the higher up link (10 minutes long) of a radio broadcast "Extracts from an Ovaltineys' Broadcast in Real Audio (http://www.paulplu.demon.co.uk/sound/luxembourg30s.ram)" especially the advert for Rowntrees Real Fruit Jellys - 'they're so much the best'!' on prim and proper 1940's BBC style pronunciation

I have a fond recollection for the wee boy who teased the baby elephant with his last Rolo and then years later received his comeuppance with a swift trunk across his coupon when visiting the zoo. Makes me chortle just typing this... [lol]

Totally agree with that. Peddling the myth that the stench of chemicals will make you attractive to women. The truth is that women know that anyone clarted with Lynx is gowfin of B.O.

I think a pocketful of Magic Trees would be a more subtle way of masking the manky oxters.

Brekkies catfood.

"Cats make haste for the Brekkies taste, the Brekkies taste makes cats make haste"

To think that somebody got paid for penning that ditty.

What about the one for Knorr soup or stock cubes where the two Highland me were extolling the virtues of the pea and ham soup they were taking. When one asked after the other’s wife Morag and the other said, ‘Ah, she’s gone to Inverness on a hen night’ the other said ‘All that way for a chicken, now that’s devotion for you…’

I liked that one.

Aye that's a recent classic Golach along with this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYNkqMPGQoY&NR=1) one but I love the older Irn Bru ad's too such as this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxkcjUdunb4).

For those of you who can't remember the Smash adverts these are a couple of reminders. 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjK7az-fTzY) 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0YF_oNyQXE)

Ah what a goldmine YouTube is LOL!

of course! I'm hopeless about things like that. It's definitely Maureen Lipman. Shame they dropped those adverts, I'm not fond of BT but the ads were good! Thanks for the reminder :)

The one that made me chuckle the most was taken off air very quickly for some reason lol
it was two blokes in a rowing boat apparently 'lost at sea' then the screen would go blank and the narrator would say "plink plink fizz, for when you've eaten something you shouldn't have" and the picture would come back with just one man in the boat [lol]
the ad was for alka seltzer .. absolute classic!

don't recall this one in the UK, but it's funny! For the Nissan Micra
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAXLPyrmsZQ

The Nissan Micra 'ask before you borrow it' ads were good for a giggle. Especially the one where 'she' is chucking all his stuff out of the window :)

Serving up a Blue Riband to a relative who was in tonight reminded me of this (http://tv.80snostalgia.com/index.php?module=PostWrap&page=videos/adverts/blue_riband.html) advert - not a favourite but can't get that song out of my head now [evil]
