Castletown man will stand trial on assault charges in the New Year

A SERIOUS assault trial at has been postponed because a key witness is unable to attend at Wick Sheriff Court.
The indictment facing Paul Farmer was to have taken place on September 1 and has now been put out until early next year.
The change was flagged up last week when the change was agreed by the prosecution and the defence. Farmer, 47, faces four charges, on indictment.
One of the assaults alleges he struck pregnant Charalie Munro causing her to strike her head against a door; another accuses him of pushing her head under water and threatening to kill her.
The remaining two charges accused Farmer of repeatedly striking a young man and threatning to kill him if he told anyone about it and repeatedly striking a 15-year-old girl, pulling her hair and hitting her with a mobile phone.
The assaults are said to have occurred at Farmer's home at 38 Traill Street, Castletown, and in Dumferline and Helensburgh between January 1, 1989 and April 22.
