THE first turbines for the pioneering MeyGen tidal energy project are due to be installed off the Caithness coast, next summer. So said company chief executive, Dan Pearson, during a visit to the north on Wednesday afternnoon.
This means local engineering work and long term maintenance work....also Willie Watt predicting c300 jobs in Wick serving the off shore wind farm...Beatrice....by 2017......excellent news for the local economy ...interesting that Rob Gibson et all are still slevering on about withdrawal of subsidies for wind farms....why in the first place was money wasted on this....the dough should have been funneled to wave /tidal not wind then we would have further ahead......
