Just a wee note to everyone that there will be a meeting in caithness Horizons at 6pm tonight for anyone who is interested in starting up and joining a Viking reenactment group.

Apologies to all about the late notice. The meeting went well and we will be moving forward with setting up a group. We have asked that all who are interested join the Viking society who will train us and also gives us access to some of their events details can be found here http://www.vikingsonline.org.uk/membership/index.htm. There is a Facebook group called Caithness Vikings and if you give your email address to Joan or Joanne at Caithness Horizons they can make sure you are all kept informed.

What will this Viking re-enactment group do? Simulate rape and pillage or produce accurate historical education?

Not sure about the rape bit but I'm up fer a wee bit o pillage. ..... does that come we chips?

It's been claimed recently that the Vikings were a family-orientated people and that they brought their families with them to Scotland. Rape and pillage weren't on the menu according to some researchers.
