Does anyone have experience of the Predator Midgeater (http://www.calor.co.uk/shop/outdoor-living/midgeeater/predator-dynamic-midgeater.html) vs. the Midgetech Mosquito Magnet (http://www.midgetech.com/online_shop.asp?cat_id=639)?

I bought Mum and Dad a midgie eater a few years ago.
It doesn't look like the 2 you are looking at...but it works at decimating the female population so less midgies breed and the midgie population drops to tolerable levels....so works on the same principle...and it works!
Think its just personal preference and running costs versus buying costs that will make you decide which one to go for as they are best running from dawn to dusk over the midgie season!

Thanks for your reply and experience.
From what I've read on old news pages the original company, Texol, went out of business in 2009. They made one painted green. Maybe that's the one you bought.
One of the more expensive models saves fuel by turning it off at temperatures under 10°C and knowing when it is day and night and is cordless which could be handy if you have a bigger plot. It would be good to have one that is wind sensitive - I can't imagine any of them do any good over a certain wind speed.
