Lybster to figure in energy servicing operation
A CAITHNESS businessman his heading up a new Aberdeen oil and gas servicing company which will have a spin-off in the far north.
EnerQuip, set up by Andrew Polson, will have a presence in Lybster where it has acquired a large workshop, yard and office facilities to handle some of its fabrication and repair activities.
The company is currently based at Tullos but plans to move to a large location in the north-east to meet its anticipated growth.
Mr Polson previously owned AMC Engineering which he sold four years ago. He is making a £6m investment in EnerQuip which provides torque machines and associated services to the drilling and downhole tools sectors and create 16 jobs.
Joining him in the new venture, will be two previous AMC directors, Dave Clark and John Duncan.
Beyond its core specialism, the company plans to launch a new generation torque machine for the assembly and dismantling of downhole tools, by the first half of 2016.
Managing director Mr Clark said: "The new business provides us with a platform to offer a unique service package that harnesses our extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of our specialist sector."
