Sentence a warning to others who don't comply with court orders

A MAN, who breached a court order, was jailed for six months at Wick Sheriff Court today.

Martin Gunn, 24, was under the influence of drink when he was discovered at a house in Wick on May 9, contrary to a bail condition banning him from the town. He also admitted failing to give police his correct details.

The court heard he travelled to the town after drinking in Thurso and took cocaine as well as additional drinks. Gunn, of 4 Queen's Square, Thurso, attempted to hide when he saw the police approaching.

Sheriff Andrew Berry commented on the accused's record, which contains numerous instances of breaching of court orders and added that prison was the only appropriate sentence he could impose to highlight the necessity of compliance with the instructions.
