Accused facing careless and dangerous driving charges

A WICK offshore worker, accused off careless and dangerous driving, has had his trial postponed because of overseas work commitments.
The town's sheriff court heard, yesterday, that Martin Campbell, 39, was due to fly out today (Thursday) and would not be able to stand trial on the original date set, May 28. The case has been rescheduled for July 8.
The charges allege that Campbell, of Shamrock, Bobby Coghill Avenue, Wick, drove his Ford Focus at an excessive speed and braked harshly, causing the vehicle to skid and also that he drove towards Colin Leask, resulting in him having to take evasive action to avoid being hit.
The incidents, which Campbell denies, are alleged to have occurred in Bobby Coghill Avenue, on September 13 and 17, respectively, last year.
