A MAN argued with his next-door-neighbour and later threatened to "cut his legs off below the knees".
John Hastings, 42, denied threatening or abusive conduct at Wick Sheriff Court, yesterday, but was found guilty after a short trial. He will be sentenced on Friday.
The court heard that estate gardener Colin Merriott, 59, arrived home at 3 Seaview Cottages, in Latheron, after work, on August 1, 2014 and encountered Hastings arguing with his wife, Jacqueline Marriott, over the back garden wall..
Mr Marriot told the court that he intervened and added that Hastings, resident in No 2, was intimidating and made comments about which of his neighbour's dogs would die first, and his English nationality.
Hastings, who sometimes lives at 31 Cairndhuna Terrace, Wick, made his threat to assault Mr Marriott while he was being arrested by police.
