does anyone know what that burning light is over on Orkney??

It is like a big flame but I have not seen it before.

DianeYou sure its not flotta flame burning or it could be someone burning heather

It more than likely will be the flame at flotta.

It's a 220ft high gas flare... pretty hard to miss - but even when I lived by the sea I couldn't see it on every clear night.

Think it must be the flame at Flotta you're seeing. Obviously depends where you are but it can normally be seen quite clearly when you're coming up from Scrabster and into town.
