Just wondering if anyone has had the assessment or had the work carried out? Just looking to see how people got on with it as we are considering getting the assessment, as we need central heating and possibly double glazing (but we've been told there is some Highland council scheme for windows and are waiting for info on it).

had a new boiler installed feb 2014.
only cost me <£350

all went well

sadly due to either poor installation or a makers faulty part lost heating all over xmas/new year
but all ok now.

Scottish energy trust sorted everything to do with the ECO grant etc etc.

a lot of people where rip off by one lot of green deals had to pay money for a survey that was to be refunded on completion of work but after months of cancelling and re booking appointment they went bust so be careful

Thanks for the input. We're not sure if it's the best way to do it but seeing as we need new windows and central heating it may be the only option due to what it would cost. Not heard of many people taking it up and the huge list of terms and conditions are a bit daunting.

I have applied and been accepted for external wall insulation. It has cost me nothing so far. Next stage is a contractor will come and give an estimate for the insulation. This will then go to the Green Deal/Government & they will tell me how much we need to contribute, if anything. There is an upper limit

Perfect, thanks. I'll book an assessment. Did you use RDI or anither company for the assessments?

It was run by British Gas. A specialist surveyor came out & measured up the house, took personal details said that it seemed we qualified. Now waiting for someone like RDI to come out and quote for the work
