A HOTEL and public park development, which would cost £4 million and create 60 jobs, is being planned in Thurso. That was confirmed this week by local businessman Raymond Taylor who is behind the proposal. He wants to create a quality hotel and eight executive chalets to cater for business and tourists as well as a multi-purpose public park which would be used for shows concerts and events.

OUT-OF-HOURS surgery at Caithness General Hospital cannot be guaranteed in the future. That is the stark warning from NHS Highland though it said it is working to develop a safe and sustainable model for surgical services at the hospital. It also stressed it is determned "more and not less planned surgery" would take place at the Wick hospital.

THURSO Cinema is continuing to pack the aisles as it welcomed 55,000 customers to watch the latest releases on the big screen during 2014.
