Birkle Hill Quarry at the back of Castletown - anyone know who owns it? I remember it being the municipal tip years ago.
Used to be able to walk in and up to the top to look at the views (better than up the brae I reckon). Decided to go for a walk up there last week with a photographer pal as I'd been braggin about the views but the gates are shut - not just tied but there are big concrete slabs making sure no-one can get in. Went up the brae instead - bit slippy in places :eek: Met a dog walker who didn't know who owned it either but did say that the gates had been open the previous week before being closed again and apparently they've been pretty much closed for the past few years. Just curious really - if it's closed like that to stop fly-tipping then fair do's but wish they could've left a gap for those of us who just wanted to walk in. If I can find out who owns it then I'll know who to ask if my pal comes up again with his camera.
