Dozerboy and Victor Vendetta, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit! You should both be ashamed of yourselves for taunting Mr Cannop! [disgust]

I agree with you, crashbandicoot1979. Thankyou for letting us know, Mr Cannop. Living so far away, on the other side of the Atlantic, I don't always get to hear what's going on in Thurso, my hame toon. I hope the young man who was attacked will be OK, and that the right man has been arrested. Any witnesses, please come forth!

Thank you PAUL !!

The thug has now been named ( MFR ) as Mark Bailey... don't know him, don't want to know him, do hope he gets what he deserves.

Not everyone reads the papers, dozerboy. And it's no secret that Paul is a good lad, who would never do anything to wrongly provoke people. Furthermore, I live a long way away from my home town, therefore, such incidents are a concern to me. I have family there.

Question: Can you list 'all the papers' this was reported in?
Was it just Caithness papers? North of Scotland papers? All Scottish papers? All UK papers?

I live in England now and I couldn't find it in the Daily Express nor the Liverpool Daily Post.
More details would have been helpful.
I rely on, and thank, correspondents like Mr Cannop for the minutae details of local happenings.

Dont know what paper's it was in but it was on the ceefax north of scotland news this morning.
Usually when someone posts a thread like this it gets pulled.Dont see why as this is just news not gossip.
Sometimes people forget that other's who hail from Caithness but dont live here like to keep in touch and this can be the only way.

I never buy the local paper and would never of known until the goss had eventually come my way with arms and legs attached!

Caithness is unfortunately catching up with everywhere else on the crime front!

Only a court can do that though.

Nose ain't bent out of shape Mr Darkman - just seems a little pointless to me, but remember what I write is only my opinion to which nobody else is asked to subscribe. The more folk who add their own opinion, the better, or this place would be really dull.

I hardly think it amounts to a taunt - as I already said, it's MY OPINION - if you don't like it, well that's a shame.

You have yours, I have mine...................... Get used to it.

Were you thinking of waiting until he was perhaps - summoned, tried, found guilty, perhaps?

I think they are legal terms used to describe the process followed, leading up to (if successful) to "Getting what he deserves"

I think the original post was gossip, myself.

just thought i would bring some bighter news to you all. just heard man who was attacked is improving well and is up walking about, he should be back in wick hospital soon.
hope all goes well for him. i dont think is a bad or imposing thread, it just reinforces fact that people need to be more aware of their surroundings. sad but true.

anyway the man concerned is improving and that i feel is the most important thing.

Tanks Mr Cannop. I heard about it on t'wireless. Have been listenin to it less and less these days. Had I not heard it I'd have been none the wiser. My youngest sibling lives in Thurso, as do some other relatives. I was sort of fearful for their safety even though I knew I'd have been told of anything straight away. Also caught it on TV - only because I needed to find out about an accident that Mr A was caught up behind (he takes accidents quite badly due to his job - has come across fatal ones all too often) at dalwhinnie (spelling prob wrong, soz). Even then the TV isn't on very often. Don't buy Caithness papers and only look at the job pages in the local papers.

Thanks Paul... I'm sure that there'll have been plenty of people who would not have heard about it who've family in Thurso.

Must say, this news kinda rattled me... I expect things like this to happen in my nearest town, but not in Caithness!!!

No one deserves to have something that bad happen to them. I mean, I find it mentally impossible to hurting anyone I dislike to where they're fighting for their lives. My thoughts are with the victim (who I believe was also named... but with the shock I didn't learn it).
