A CAITHNESS councillor has hit out at the lack of progress on the new Wick High School campus which is due to open in August 2016. Wick Highland councillor Bill Fernie is concerned about the ongoing delays to the project,the cost of which has gone up by £5 million to £43.6 million.

Mike Potts said it just “made sense” for the county to have its own flag as he gave his own support for Caithness to become the first mainland county in Scotland to have its colours.
THE Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is on the hunt for a company to build its nuclear industry archive in Caithness. The £17 million project, earmarked for land near Wick John O’ Groats Airport, will provide long-term secure storage for masses of records and other papers relating to operations of civil sites dating from the 1940s.
