Carpet Cleaner Hire

Has anyone used the Rug Doctor carpet cleaner you can hire from Homebase? Are they any good? I also notice that HSS in Thurso hire a Karcher carpet cleaner, and wondered if that's any better?

Any opinions, folks?

Best carpet cleaner I have hired is the Big Green machine by Bex Bissell from Colin Chessor in Thurso. Reasonable rates, excellent cleaning products sold for cost price when you hire. £20 refundable cash deposit which you get back if the machine is returned clean, which is easy to do. Also has a bag of accessories for corners, suites etc., I had it for a weekend and cleaner carpets in three houses.
