Wick pair get on their bikes for 78-mile round-the-county challenge
VETERAN cycling fundraisers Arthur Bruce and Willie Macdonald are back in the saddle again, tomorrow for yet another charity fundraiser.
The pair are tackling a 78-mile route for Caithness Heart Support Group and Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland. They are due to hit the road at Caithness General Hospital, heading south to Latheron, then west to Thurso and on to John O’ Groats before returning to Wick.
Arthur, 51, a builder and 52-year-old Willie, a typesetter, have already clocked up a considerable number of miles in training, in recent weeks, not without a few knocks, but are raring to go, on the official challenge.
They hope to raise more than £1000 and have set up a JustGiving webpage atwww.justgiving.com/BruceandMcDonald (http://www.justgiving.com/BruceandMcDonald) for sponsorship, although they will also be collecting cash along the route.
Eighty per cent of the money raise online will go to Caithness Heart Support Group with the remainder being donated to Chest, Heart & Stroke, Scotland.
Over the years, Arthur, of Lower Dunbar Street and Willie, who lives in South Road, both Wick, have raised more than £12,000 for good causes.
