Wife fell and hurt her head during struggle with husband

A YEARS-old-issue triggered a struggle between Drew Cleland and his wife Cinthia.
During it, she fell and struck her head on a bed frame, Wick Sheriff Court heard today.
Husband Cleland, 65, appeared from custody and admitted a breach of the peace which occurred at their home at Headlands, Portskerra, yesterday.
It was stated that Mrs Cleland sustained bruising and swelling and a cut on the side of her cheek. The injuries required some medical attention. The offence had been triggered by an old issue the couple had been discussing.
The case was continued for a background report by Sheriff Andrew Berry who heard that the couple had been married for 46 years. He will reappear for sentence on September 2.
The accused, a first offender, is staying with a relative in Halkirk, meantime.
