Twenty-nine-year-old remanded despite being admonished

A MAN involved in a domestic incident was subsequently said in court to be facing deportation.
Vinod Manorkiar was admonished, after Sheriff Andrew Berry was informed that he had been detained by the home office pending deportation.
Manorkiar, 29, admitted assaulting Louise Lawrie, his partner of 18 months, at their home at 16 Harrow Terrace, Wick, on Friday.
He was said to have had a few drinks when he lashed out at her, striking her once in the face, after a disagreement.
David Barclay, prosecuting, told Wick Sheriff Court, today, that there were "issues" regarding the Manorkiar's residency in the UK and, regardless of the sentence imposed for the assault, he would be dealt with by another agency.
Sheriff Andrew Berry continued the case briefly after hearing that court security firm, G4s had some paperwork relating to the deportation.
When the court resumed, solicitor Fiona MacDonald reported that Manorkiar had been detained at Porterfield Prison, Inverness, following the domestic incident.
Sentencing the accused, Sheriff Berry said it seemed appropriate to admonished him, and remand him to allow the immigration authorities to proceed with the deportation.
