With today being the centenary of the outbreak of WWI I thought this might be appropriate to remember those from our local community who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them.

From the photos I have seen of the display it looks to be very well done and certainly worth a visit.

Check out 'The story of McCraes Battalion the 16th Royal Scots' to find out the very strong Caithness links to this famed Edinburgh battalion, sometimes referred to as the Sporting Battalion because of its strong links to Heart of Midlothian FC, Raith Rovers FC, Falkirk FC, and others. Another very strong link is that the author of the definitive book, Jack Alexander, comes from Caithness stock. His late mother hailed from Upper Latheron.Anyone with an interest in Pals Battalions or football should read the book. Also worth a wee 'google' for McCraes Battalion!
